A Talk by Imogen Eveson

TheWall@TheGallery Willesden Green Centre, 95 High Road, London NW10 2SF Tube: Willesden Green A Talk by Imogen Eveson A London-based writer, curator and graphic designer Wednesday 27th June 7pm-8pm Brent Artists' Resource is proud to present a talk by Imogen Eveson. A promising new creative talent, she is certainly one to watch. High resolution images can be obtained from: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brentartistsresource/sets/72157630010899960/ Imogen Eveson is a writer, designer and a promising new curating talent. She studied Fashion Communication with Promotion at Central Saint Martins, where she produced Fauve, an illustrated journal of fashion and art that went on to be stocked in fashion specialists RD Franks. Based on Fauve, she was commissioned to design the exhibition booklet and visuals for TESTIMONIES and to produce a retrospective book on The Wapping Project, to be published later this year. For the past two years she has also curated a fashion-based area at Latitude Festival, collaborating with up-and-coming set designer, Samara Tompsett. Imogen’s talent for invention and corralling ideas together has brought Samara’s beautifully crafted sets to life with talks, workshops and live shoots. She is poised to return to Latitude this year with The Painted House, an ever-evolving fashion exhibition set against the backdrop of Marie Antoinette’s crumbling boudoir and featuring imaginative collaborations with designers, illustrators, photographers and more. On 27th June she will be taking us through her career so far with an engaging and entertaining visual history: from her roots growing up in Glastonbury (and how dancing in a field informs her work today!) to creating her own fashion magazine, Fizz, aged ten. From studying in Central Saint Martin’s iconic Charing Cross Road building before it was decommissioned, to the series of serendipitous moments that led to a whopping Wapping commission. She will talk about the joys and pitfalls of going to work in a Faraway Forest for one weekend a year and about her forthcoming project The Painted House, her most ambitious to date. Imogen will also offer an insight into her creative process; a mixture of intuition, dedication and self-confessed control-freakishness, and reveal the patchwork of perennial inspirations that filters through all she does: from Super8, Sarah Moon and Deborah Turbeville to Egon Schiele, Edvard Munch and the Ballets Russes; Portishead and Radiohead, Chris Cunningham and analogue cameras; natural light and tramlines.
