Some Enchanted Evening:Literary Events in Havant

Dear Havant Literary Festival Supporter,

I am writing to encourage you to support the new set of "betwixt festival" events we are running between now and the main event - which runs from 3rd to 12th October this year.    These are designed to maintain interest in literary themes and run as part of our partnership with the Spring.  All the interim events are bookable via The Spring Box office - 02392 472700 or on-line via their web site - www.thespring.co.uk

Some Enchanted Evening

Friday 14 February 2014, 7.15pm to 8.30pm. Drinks served from 7.  Join us to be:

To be romanced by poet John Haynes (winner Costa Poetry Prize)
To be soothed by gentle music
To be encouraged and emboldened by local love poet Stella Bahin
To sip sparkling wine or fruit juice
To be bathed in candle-light
To read your own favourite love poem or another’s - the most lovely reading wins a bottle of champagne
To celebrate with us – alone, in couples, in trios, whatever you choose – the enduring power of love

This event is jointly organised by The Spring and Havant Literary Festival.

FURTHER EVENTS begin in May and include:

Friday 9th May 7.15 - 8.45	TUDOR VOICES. Beginning with authentic  16th century music from Gera Lambeth,  the evening moves into a series of dramatic  readings celebrating the written word of the  Tudor period, from Nicola and John Scadding.  Tickets £6.00 includes a glass of mead or  spiced apple.
Thursday 15th May 7.30 – 8.45	BOOK GROUP. An opportunity to spend a  pleasant evening with others interested in quality  modern writing. Introduced by the Literary Festival  Director, Tim Dawes, we will be discussing  Harvest by Jim Crace.  Short-listed for the 2013  Booker, this latest novel by one of our greatest  living novelists is a delight.  Tickets £6.00 includes a glass of wine or soft  drink from the bar.
Thursday 19th June 7.30 – 8.45	BOOK GROUP.  Introduced by The Spring  Director, Sophie Fullerlove, we will be  discussing And the Mountains Echoed by  Khaled Hosseinie. . The latest from the  acclaimed author of the Kite Runner.  Tickets £6.00 includes a glass of wine or  soft drink from the bar.
Thursday 17th July 7.30 – 8.45	BOOK GROUP.  Introduced by the local  writer, Lucy Flannery, we will be discussing  May we be Forgiven by A. M. Homes.  This  important “novel for our times” won Homes  the title Women's Prize for Fiction in 2013.  Tickets £6.00 includes a glass of wine or soft drink from the bar.
Friday 18th July 7.15 - 8.45	SUMMER READING. Four local authors  each present two suggested good summer  reads. One of each selection will be newly  published and the other at least ten years old.  Ideal for those planning their summer vacation.  £6.00 includes a glass of Sangria ruit juice. Pop up book shop in attendance.
