Hi everyone, this
Thursday is our final FPS members exchange of the year featuring the wonderful
Solange Keshmann and Dijana Beklavac who will be sharing their work. This is
also a special xmas celebration edition and will last until 9pm.
Members are invited
to share one thing they would like to remember or celebrate from 2021. This can
be anything - it might be a piece of work / news / something you are working on
currently or have learned. We will do this in the final 30 minutes of the call.
Do feel free to wear something festive and raise a glass online together.
Please find below
more information about Dijana and Solanges work and here's the Zoom link:

DIJANA BEKVALAC
Dijana explores the
boundaries of abstract picture making, playing with and dissecting its
language, touching upon the infinite substrata of the visual within its scope.
Her imagery evokes cartographic landscapes and self-referential visual systems
which exist in a condition of fragile order. It is about the obsessive mapping
of space and the gathering of time invested in the production of an
image. She is also greatly influenced by the actions associated with
handwriting, its traces and aesthetics, its ephemera, lines and the grids that
guide it.
Her practice addresses the issue of the uprooted image, a set of visuals
without obvious external reference. She accepts the impossibility of this
condition, but allows her work to positively question its existence by allowing
a visual event to occur without an immediate reference. Accepting this
condition is a prerequisite to understanding her practice.
The experience of her imagery should consequently evoke a sense of recognition
akin to deja-vu, a sense she herself experiences throughout the creative
process.

SOLANGE KESCHMANN
“Fantasy is perhaps the most free of our intellectual faculties, it does not
take into account the feasibility or functionality of an object, it can
permit itself to be incredible and impossible”.
My artistic goal is to transmit my inspiration, my fantasy and my ‘joie de
vivre’.
As Alexander Calder says, "Above all, art should be fun."
However, my objects do not stop there, they question and engage in reflection,
they transport the viewer into a miniature cosmos that unfolds in a small space
and which, through the fragility of the construction, invites sometimes to
reflect on the fragility of our world.
I capture my own dynamism and inspiration in my works as light,
movement and shape and let them communicate with the
environment, which reflects itself in them, thus creating a constant
variability.
I explore the boundaries of materials: brass, aluminium and acrylic glass
that has optic and kinetic properties as well as translucent qualities, which
attract light capriciously.
I am focussing now on the creation of suspensions, ‘Abstract Hanging
Sculpture’. These objects seem to escape gravity; what they lose in inert mass
they gain in transparency.
But it is with a twinkle in the eye that I sometimes realise my ideas.
