I was recently shortlisted, with 3 other sculptors, to produce a bronze maquette of Aphra Behn for Canterbury Commemoration Society.  The 4 bronzes are now going on tour and you can vote for your favourite one through the cantcommsoc website.  Here is the link https://www.cantcommsoc.co.uk/sculptors-shortlist/

There will be a gala dinner in July where the maquettes will be auctioned off and the sculptor chosen to produce the life size statue will be announced in September.

If you haven’t heard of Aphra Behn (I hadn’t!) do look her up -she’s an amazing character – 17th century, was around during the Great Plague, Fire of London, Peypes wrote about her; first woman to make her own living from writing; spied for Charles II; travelled to Surinam; so well known in her own lifetime that she is buried in Westminster Abbey …. There is so much more … and she’s from Canterbury!

I would be very grateful if you could take a look, vote for your favourite and spread the word.

Many thanks.
