ALEX McINTYRE et al

Hello Art Lover,

You are invited to Open Studio at

3 The Valley, Whitwell, SG4 8BN
12 - 14 September 12-6pm

Please visit and help me warm my new studio!

I am finally settled in and creating. I left Blue Door Studio in November 2023. I couldn't have imagined, nor predicted, how disruptive the move would be for my work and creative flow. With much luck and the love and support of incredible friends who have given me hours of their time, muscles and expertise in practical and emotional support  - the studio is up and I am working in it!

Getting back into flow, connection and a sense of purpose with painting is a bit of an ongoing process. I feel increasingly settled in. The new studio is the polar opposite of Blue Door Studio. Where the old studio was utilitarian with a concrete floor and one chair, that was normally covered in something because I sat down so rarely, the new studio is gentle, friendly and beautiful. It has an armchair gifted by my lovely neighbour Bridget and is situated at the bottom of my garden.  I paint accompanied by the sounds of birds and the scent of roses. I have even had visiting ducks and pheasants popping their beaks in the door.

Would you like to come and see what I have been working on?

What to expect at Open Studios

In the studio
 -  I will have new completed pieces and works in progress.
In my home - I am collaborating with local artists Gill Ayre, Linda Anderson, Karen Picton and Deirdre Shepherd to bring you an exhibition of works hung in a domestic setting throughout the open plan downstairs.  Cassy Paris and Anne Houghton will also have works available. The exhibition will continue at Karen Picton’s studio, 15 The Valley, Whitwell.

There is something to suit every budget - You will be able to buy original cards from as little as £3 to large statement paintings for your home in the value of up to £3500.

Find a place to sit and spend time quietly looking at art for as long or as little as you like, or grab a drink and join a conversation with whoever is about.

All are welcome and we will be thrilled to see you.

Alex

PARKING AND ACCESSIBILITY - If you have accessibility issues and need a car parking space outside, please get in touch and I will endeavour to reserve a space for you. Please be aware there is no other parking on The Valley and you will need to park a short walk away elsewhere in the village or on the farm (use SG4 8AF for the farm, following signs for Emily's teashop) and walk through.
There is a downstairs toilet. Please be aware however that space is limited and my home may not be wheelchair accessible.
